ASA14 Decennial: Anthropology and Enlightenment

Accommodation

Delegates can choose between relatively inexpensive accommodation in university halls of residence and a range of hotels close to the conference location in central Edinburgh.

Halls of residence

The University of Edinburgh might still have some rooms available to book from the Tuesday night (17 June) to the Sunday night (22 June), in Pollock Halls, a 15 to 20-minute walk from the conference venue (see here for travel information).

Single standard room (shared bathroom): £35.50 per night, including breakfast

Single ensuite room (private bathroom): £45 per night, including breakfast

The rooms must be booked directly with the University via the link below (now removed), and availability is not guaranteed after 19 May.

Please note that full payment is taken at the time of booking, by credit or debit card. Any bookings cancelled within 72 hours of the arrival date will not be refunded. Any bookings cancelled more than 72 hours prior to the arrival date will be refunded less a £10 admin fee.

On the booking page, there are various options in the "Property" field - you need to choose Pollock Halls here.

In the "Promotion Code" field, please enter ASA14.

On the next screen, choose the number of rooms on the right-hand side, and then click on "Add Room(s)". A "Checkout" button will then appear above, to take you to the contact details and payment pages.

If you have any dietary requirements for breakfast (vegan, gluten free, etc), or any access requirements, please note these in the "Booking Notes" field.

Once you have made your booking you will receive a confirmation email. In the case of any queries about your booking or general queries regarding the accommodation, please email bed.breakfast[at]ed.ac.uk or phone +44(0) 131 651 2007.

Hotels

For those who prefer to stay in a hotel, Marketing Edinburgh Convention Bureau has negotiated rates for delegates with a variety of two, three and four star hotels, and is pleased to offer a free online booking service (link now removed).

Credit card details are required to make a booking and confirmation will be sent to your email address. Your card is needed only to secure the booking; payment is made directly to the accommodation provider at the time of your stay.
