Crisis in HE
Anthropology responds to the UK Crisis in HE
The ASA is deeply concerned about a number of developments in HE over the past year including the review of higher education funding by Brown, the rise in tuition fees in England, the withdrawal of the teaching grant for the Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities and the increased weight given to ‘impact’.
Debate and discuss
The ASA seeks to foster a space for anthropologists to debate and discuss these issues. We have invited essay contributions to jump-start this page, but we want to hear from you – please contact the ASA Networks Officer (networks(at)theasa.org) if you would like to post a contribution or see another link added.
The first two contributions are from:
- Dr Dimitris Dalakoglou (Lecturer in Anthropology, University of Sussex) - read here
- Professor Judith Okely (Emeritus Professor of Social Anthropology, Hull and Research Associate, School of Anthropology, Oxford) - read here
Connect and challenge
This site is also a way to bring allied fields and resources into one place. A series of related links follow to broaden discussions, including previously published essays as well as developments within other professional associations.
